Who Ya Gonna Call: Ghostbuster or Divorce Buster?

Ghost Busting. One movie I have laughed my way through several times is “Ghostbusters.” For readers unfamiliar with this 1984 comedy, briefly, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Bill Murray play former parapsychology professors who go into business in New York City capturing ghosts in large, vacuum cleaner-like packs worn on their backs.

While going about business, they stumble onto a crack to another dimension ready to open and release untold evil into the world. The crack breaks open and, well, all hell breaks loose. The ghostbusters save the world by outsmarting those evil spirits, returning them to their world, and sealing the crack. In their antic-filled way, the ghostbusters save the day.

Their tag: Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters!

Divorce Busting®. I recently returned from a small group, advanced, intensive training with Michele Weiner-Davis, the Divorce Buster. That’s Weiner as in hot dog; not as in overly-tired child.

Why is marriage counselor, author, and international speaker and teacher Michele Weiner-Davis known for Divorce Busting®? She has found the key to saving marriages, even when one spouse wants out. I don’t mean just stopping divorce. I mean helping couples, including those on the brink of divorce, find deep, loving fulfillment in each other.

I attended this training confident working with Michele would raise my level of expertise. Healing relationships is my number one professional passion. I will not settle for being less than the best counselor/therapist I can be.

What is professionally cooler for a relationship counselor than having a way to help people bust the ghosts haunting their relationships? What is more gratifying for couples in trouble than having a marriage counselor help them successfully heal their relationships?

Michele has found a solution-oriented brief therapy focus the best approach when working with couples. Hopelessness comes from believing you’ve said everything there is to say and tried every action there is to try, without getting the results you want. You can banish your hopelessness ghosts when you realize you’re not at the end of the road when you’ve said and done everything YOU know to say or do. Countless solutions you haven’t thought of exist. When you feel stuck, it’s a relief to discover these solutions and learn how to use them in a way that really works.
